I’ve always wanted to do a book tag and the first one I found was a rainbow book tag. If you’re on Instagram or Twitter you might’ve come across a rainbow book stack. This post is similar to that however, with it being a blog post I can delve deeper into the book stack. From previous book tags that I’ve come across, the only rules are, it must be a book you’ve read, color of the rainbow and the exact edition you’ve read/own. I won’t go in the order of the colors of the rainbow, rather the order of my photo below.
A fun YA Contemporary about a girl crafting the perfect boy. However, this isn’t a perfect world. Certainly a few lessons to learn from this one. It was entertaining and humorous at times. I read it for my first readathon in August 2020 which can be watched here: https://www.instagram.com/tv/CEoXWk9DP8u/
LOOKING FOR ALASKA BY JOHN GREEN (BLACK)
I’m not sure how many times I’ve read this but it’ll always be one of my favorites. About a guy going to a boarding school and experiencing life, love and friendship. I also recommended it for my eleventh grade class book and was so happy when the teacher chose it. You can tell I definitely did well in that class…
Found this book at a thrift shop in my early days of becoming a book blogger. It’ll always be memorable to me. Thus, I’ll aways remember the plot of a writer becoming friends with his daughter’s friend’s wealthy father. He has to get close to him to figure out what he’s up to or else everyone he’s ever loved will be in danger.
A 2020 release I didn’t think I’d like as much but I ended up loving it! A girl running away from home to live with her grandparents. While staying readers find out why she left and why her mother never let her meet her grandparents.
BEAUTIFUL BROKEN THINGS BY SARA BARNARD (GREEN)
I remember buying this book because this sequel was one of my first blog tours I did here. I was honored and didn’t want to slip up on my first opportunity. I’m glad I got a book that was so easy in terms of plot. It was also enjoyable to read about friendships and the dynamic between a trio.
THE MESSENGER BY MARKUS ZUSAK (WHITE)
Okay, if you haven’t heard of this book or the author—have you been living under a rock? The author of The Book Thief also provides readers with another amazing book. I remember winning this book in a draw at the start of high school. Definitely would do a reread.
GENESIS BY BRENDAN REICHS (RED)
The second book in the Nemesis series. Also one of my all time favorite series. I wish it got more hype so I could talk to more people about it! Ugh, these characters are so dear to me. Think The Hunger Games meet Maze Runner.
I’m not really into slow burn mysteries but I loved this one. Not only does it deal with a huge mystery with a case gone cold but it includes themes such as racism, privilege and family. Highly recommend!
Another genre that took me by surprise this year. Historical Fiction. I didn’t think I’d become engrossed in this book but I loved it and I cried. Which says a lot since I hate crying. Yet I’m nothing that whenever it comes to females in the past whether political, historical, ethical, etc—I’m interested. So, if you’re looking for a book where women takes things into their own hands once there’re no men and when there finally is, the men feel a need to take charge—this is the book for you.
There you have it folks, my rainbow book tag! Unfortunately, I don’t have any brown, grey, beige or gold books but one day I will! I hope you’ve enjoyed my selections and reason to read some of them or have you read some already? Let me know in the comment section below!
