Reading books is a luxury and a form of escapism from our tech-driven world. At times, we seek books that allow us to relax without demanding constant analysis. Here are some of my top recommendations from various genres over the years.

Person reading a book on a floral blanket with a candle nearby. Text: "7 Cozy Reads." Warm, inviting mood.

The Housemaid by Frieda McFadden

Recently, I read it and could've finished it within a few days. It's definitely gripping and thrilling, but still good enough to keep you on your toes. Not to mention, I'm curious about the film adaptation coming out later this year...

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo

Anything by this author is beautiful. I loved the characters. I loved the writing and it's overall a beautiful story to read and witness everything unfold for these characters.

I listened to the audiobook version of this, if you're an audio reader you'll need comfy earphones/headphones! View my budget friendly favorites from Belkin.

The London Séance Society by Sarah Penner

I love stories with dual perspectives and timelines. Yes, you'll have to keep track of where you are in this book but its effortless once the seance begins and you realize all is not what it seems.

The Immoralists by Chloe Benjamin

Another multiple-perspective book, but it's worth it to find out about the death day of these siblings. It'll leave you questioning the genre of this book and flicking through the pages in no time! Definitely a book you can become consumed by for hours...

Text: "The writers moral sheet Pros and Cons of Removing a Character FREE PDF DOWNLOAD CLICK HERE." Features an outline of a figure with a red area.

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E Schwab

As soon as I finished this book on kindle, I went out to grab a copy for myself. This is such a compelling story that'll keep you hooked to the end. I was on the verge of tears...I can't remember why but it was magical and definitely something I wish I could experience for the first time again.

All the Right Reasons by Bethany Mangle

Not my usual genre but when you mix romance and a reality show, I'm staying for the drama. It was my first time reading a book like this and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This applies more to the relaxing and unwinding if you're looking for a fairytale.

The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo

Another recommendation by this author. If you're into lyrical writing with an amazing coming of age quirk to it, I'd like you to read this and send me your thoughts! This is a book I always recommend to people.

What's a book that you love to relax with after or during a busy day? I'm eager to hear your suggestions and add them to my ever-growing list!
